The Road Less Traveled

1.)    Having a job that you enjoy and are passionate is absolutely key to enjoying life. My dad's original dream job was to open a small pharmacy of his own. Unfortunately, due to financial  issues and being married at a young age he was required to enter nursing instead. For nine years he worked in this career field. He finally was able to escape because our family moved to Penticton. Here he succeeded in getting a job in pharmacy. He began working for a local pharmacy for a few years, and then moved to the hospital pharmacy because I wasn't enjoying that job. After working there for two years he moved again to another local pharmacy. There a friend and co-worker of his proposed they start a business together. My dad considered this for a very long time because this was his dream job. My sister and I prevented him from moving forward into this job opportunity because we were so active in sports. Instead he took a managing position the the hospital and stayed there for five years. Many of the days he would come home from work and grumble about how horrible the people and job were. He often exclaimed how he had missed the chance of a lifetime. After five years of working in this managing position, a chance reappeared. This time my father was extremely determined and went through with the decision. Now he is always happy and comes home with an enjoyable story from that day. It is clear from his actions that having a job you are passionate about is necessary for enjoyment of your life.

2.)   After I graduate from high school I plan on going to university and entering general sciences. Here I hope something with interest me more than others because I have trouble deciding what science I like more. Although I believe I will do a major in biology. From there I will achieve a high level of academics and enter medicine. There I will study very hard so I can accomplish the difficult education. I will enter a family practice residency program and complete this as well. After these ten years of school I will either continue for two additional years and achieve a specialty, or enter my dream career. I realize that this career path is extremely difficult but I believe I will be able to complete it with a high standard. I will pay for the schooling through working and hopefully scholarships. My parents will also help me pay for the housing and food components of university. Finally I am optimistic I will be able to be granted a student line of credit if I am accepted into medicine. With the profitable career, I will quickly pay this line of credit off.
I have chosen this career because I am fascinated with the human body. In addition, I believe I will be helping those in need. As a bonus the career path is will provide me with more than enough financial needs to live, so I will be able to enjoy many things that one might not normally do.
